Pushing Pause On My Weight Loss

My focus on this conversation is going to be around the losing weight aspect of a ketogenic diet and not the other health benefits.  I heard in a podcast this past week (sorry I don’t remember which one to give proper credit) that when you cheat on your diet you are pushing pause on your weight loss.  LIGHTBULB MOMENT FOR ME!!!! When I consume a higher carb item my body needs to deal with the glucose first to burn and will stop creating ketones from my fat! I had never thought of that before.  I do know from my blood testing that when I make a bad meal choice it takes 2 days to get back to ketogenic reading on my blood monitor.  Everytime I cheat, I am losing 2 days of my body using my fat on my body for fuel.  No wonder my weight isn’t really moving.  I am making bad choices way too frequently.

In the Kitchen with Kim

Buttermints - 1 cup butter, 2 teaspoons mint extract, and a little non-calorie sweetener (like 10 drops of stevia).  For the sweetener I am currently using Erythritol  (link to Amazon but not an affiliate link).  I like the little granules of Erythritol and crunch them in my teeth as the butter melts in my mouth.


Mix ingredients with a hand mixer.  I put the mixture in a sandwich bag, cut a corner, then pipe small buttons on a parchment paper lined cookie sheet.  Put in the freezer for 10 minutes.  Then put in a sealed container to store in the fridge.  Enjoy!
